"Last month, Virginia Rep. Virgil Goode (news, bio, voting record), R-Va., warned that unless immigration is tightened, "many more Muslims" will be elected and follow Ellison's lead. Ellison was born in Detroit and converted to Islam in college."

That cracks me up.

Warning: Unless people know who they are voting for, many more idiots will be elected.

Overall, that makes me very happy that a Muslim was elected. I remember growing up, being taught how wonderful America was with all its diversity, freedom of religion, etc. Now I am somewhat ashamed as it seems no one has paid attention.

Just today I got an email from a friend of mine in England, asking if I could help a friend of his whom recently moved to America... Mobile, of all places... and she is having the hardest time finding a job. She is Muslim and highly educated, holding several degrees and has much job experience. She then began applying for jobs for which she is obviously overqualified for... and still nothing. She applied online with a temp service here in Mobile and they called her immediately upon receiving her resume, saying they have a job for her and could place her as soon as the next day... she just had to come to the temp agency and fill out the appropriate paperwork. She was at the agency within 30 minutes... but as soon as they saw she was Muslim, they said the job had been filled and they have nothing else to offer her. Goodbye and have a nice day.

How can I not feel ashamed of my own country? A country which was built by immigrants, some seeking freedom of religion, others looking for a better way of life. Where is this freedom of religion we all heard about? Where is this better life we keep bragging about? Is it any wonder why other countries and religions view America as a hypocritical demon?

Disclaimer: I'm under the weather at the moment and during these times I have a tendency to "go off at the mouth".
