| Some good points, wilthrill. We've been over this issue in tons of other posts and don't seem to get anywhere with it, though.
Yes some Muslims think it is their duty to wage holy war on anyone who doesn't believe the same way they do. The Catholic church was the same way before the modern age. But, just like the Catholic church, there are moderates in Islam. Off hand, I cannot think of one country on the planet that is ruled by Sharia (Islamic religious law). If most Muslims were fanatical, you'd think most of them wouldn't be semi-democratic.
I hope you realize that there are Jews who live in other countries besides Israel in the middle east. Same with Christians. And as stated in the Qu'ran, they are NOT subject to Islamic law, but rather the law of their own faith. Afghanistan was definately the worst of the worst when it comes to representing the Islamic faith.
Make a Muslim friend, you'll learn a lot. They're not all the same-just like we aren't.
