Here's an article from that conservative bastion the San Francisco Chronicle about Nancy Pelosi's demand for a bigger plane. She requested a bigger plane (big enough to hold 40 plus passengers). It hit the press. She first said "security". When it was pointed out that the former speaker's plane was "secure" she then cried about gas mileage. And now that the "gas mileage" explanation has been shot to hell (Hastert's plane gets like 6000 miles before needing to refuel.) she,like all of the liberal patron saints of tolerance, has resorted to having her flunkies (Murtha) threaten the Dept of Defense. From the article:

"Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., the Pelosi ally who chairs the House military appropriations subcommittee, said he has spoken to Pentagon officials about the need to provide Pelosi with a bigger plane that can fly passengers coast to coast in comfort.

But he denied pressuring the Pentagon. "I don't need to pressure them. I just tell them what they need to do,'' Murtha said. "

He doesn't "pressure" them (pressure is such an ugly word), he just "tells them what they need to do". COULD that possibly mean, "give her the plane or we will cut funding"?

Oh but of course no one in the drive-by media is interested in that? Newt Gingrich complains about having to use the rear entrance of Air Force One during the Clinton years and NEWSWEEK runs a cover of Gingrich entitled "Crybaby". Pelosi and her hacks are EXTORTING the Department of Defense and THAT is a non-story???
