It's hard to give a seemingly stereo-typical answer, but when I started getting good at guitar, I was heavy into led zeppelin. I used a whole pay-check (part time, chik-fil-a) on the complete studio recordings box set, and just studied it. My favorite song for the longest time was achilles' last stand.
