Hey, 19 years in Los Angeles and people were always amazed that I spoke in complete sentences and yet was born in Mississippi. They didn't even realize how patronizing they were for accepting me as a fully evolved human despite my roots!

That's the way it is though, getting upset about it is wasted energy. You just find a stereotype about them that irks them and dig 'em with it from time to time.
