I think the question of whether or not global warmng is fact or fiction is the dumbest question mankind has ever pondered. The evidence is rock solid. think we're in a classic state of denial. Once again people are unwilling to change for the greater good, so my guess is that one day we'll all be singing "taaaaay... tum! taaaaay... tum!" as the floodwaters slowly creep around our ankles, rising."

1. Clockwork where have you been? In my necks of the woods (Tennessee), February was one the the coldest on the records. Hell, we had two or three global warming demonstrations cancelled due to BLIZZARDS this winter. Does this prove global warming false? Of course not! You can't extrapolate weather patterns for roughly 5 BILLION years on the basis of one winter or 150 years worth of weather data. Hell, those bozos can't tell us if it will be raining 5 days out and we are to believe them when they make 100 year predictions?

2. Clockwork, the summer in the 1600's wasn't only ONE occurence. Hell, at the end of what scientists refer to as the little ice age (somewhere roughly from 1100 to 1500 AD) there were MANY warm summers. In fact there were so many that it helped what is known as the the agriculture revolution in England and western Europe (more efficient farming methods and machines plus warmer climate allows much more production of food). All of the previous is a matter of record.
Furthermore, the were warm summers following EVERY single ice age this planet has experienced even if we don't have the weather data (no thermometers 25,000 years ago).

3. Clockwork I've reread junnkernaut's posts in this thread and I don't see where he is in a "state of denial". He, as have I, has been pretty clear in saying, "YES, it is warming BUT there is no proof that man is the cause." In fact there is a literal TON of evidence to the contrary, namely, this "warming" is cyclical and has been occurring long before man was an issue.

4. I am not trying to sandbag you or be argumentative but just think about it for a second.

Is the climate static?

Of course not! Thus (I notice you like that word) the climate must be variable. If, in fact, the climate is VARIABLE would one expect it to VARY? In other words, some times it will be getting colder. Sometimes it will be getting hotter. THAT is not man-made and only the height of arrogance would suggest it were.

And finally, even if we were to believe in man-made global warming don't start building your ark yet. Even the man-made global warming crew says that our temperature rose by .6 degrees (6/10 of ONE degree) over the past century. That is not exactly going to release the floodwaters anytime soon.
