| It's interesting to point out two things about how the rest of the country deals with end of life issues. For instance, a patient admitted to hospice has made the decision not to seek treatment,only to be provided comfort measures. Also, they have the option of signing a Do Not Resusitate order. That basically means if they stop breathing that no measures are to be taken to "save them". Depending on how you look at it, it's all the same only the time frame has changed. It's as though we insist on nature taking its course, yet only to an extent as we are more than willing to supply pain management. Very interesting. |
