Ironically, Wil, this proves why Dems won't endorse a pullout or really challenge Bush on the war. Even Republicans are weak on the stance. There is a chance we ( U.S. ) could win this war and not fold like we did in Vietnam.
Here's the reason I believe it's in our best interest to "Americanize" the middle east: It's not about the oil-it's about ideology.
People there have suffered a lot under their own regimes. They "vote" for these regimes based upon a popular sentiment ( kind of like Hitler )where they blame somebody for their fallen empire.
If they can attract enough radicalism they just might "turn things around" and restore their empire to it's former glory...
Well, maybe someone should be there to make sure they change their mind.
