I'd venture to say most people vote with their feelings. "Gays?! We gotta shut 'em down! ::votes Republican::" vs. "Eeevil Wal-Mart choosing China over the ol' USA, huh? ::votes Democrat::"

Liberals vote with their feelings: "People are dying in Iraq. How horrible! Let's run away from it all! If we surrender now, surely the Jihadis will leave us alone. We need a woman to show us how to make and wave a white flag. Vote for Hillary! We need more sensitivity in foreign affairs. She'll tell the Jihadis how we Americans feel their pain over the Jews raping their lands and terrorizing the poor Palestinian refugees. We'll apologize for occupying Muslim lands and pay reparations to all those who suffered under our tyranical and unsympathetic military. We'll kiss bin-Laden's ass and grovel at his feet, that he will spare our people from another deserved attack. We will allow the Taliban to re-take Afghanistan. What a horrible mistake that was! To deny the Afghans the one and only true path to Allah's mercy, as shown by the Taliban! Let us show our true humility and respect for Islam by stopping any and all barriers to immigration that might inhibit Muslims from bringing the message of Sharia law from the blessed Muhammad to our sinful and corrupt nation. Wherever Muslims are in a majority in any city, town, county, state, we will make a federal case of that majority's right to exercise the law of Islam over un-Islamic democracy. We are a non-violent people. We abhore violence. Please, no more suicide bombings. We can't take it. Can't we all just get along? We love you. Let us make love, not war."
