| well the age of mary has always been a bone of contention...kind of like the day and year that jesus was supposedly really born. some sources will go with 12 to 14, others go with 17-18. since #1 the measure of time wasnt all that reliable in those days, and #2 we really dont know if these people even existed. and in jerusalem, standard marrying age was around 14 or 15...mary was supposedly pregnant before the marriage to joseph was consumated....a crime punishable by stoning in those days.
but the point of my post is that was a rebuttal to bens repetitive style of point making. every religion has its dark side...at least its dark from todays standards. back in the days when these religions were founded, people had totally different social morays than we do today, girls got married and pregnant much earlier, the females were actually given to the families in which they were married into, almost like property, near slavery to our standards, but normal then. point is, we cant judge history by todays standards, its unfair, society was different, peoples mindsets were different...the aging process was even different.
