Well here's the thing.

The promise of the civil rights movement and the reason that so many WHITE people supported it was that the LAW should treat people equally irrespective of their color.

Now granted we live in a HUMAN world and humans, being the flawed beings they are, will probably ALWAYS have a residue of racism. i.e. I don't think we will ever totally eliminate racism.

BUT just because we can't TOTALLY ELIMINATE racism doesn't mean that we shouldn't be TRYING to do so.

UNFORTUNATELY today's civil rights types are NOT trying to eliminate racism. INSTEAD they are trying to REINSTATE STATE-SPONSORED racism under the guise of "diversity training" programs such as the one at the University of Delaware.

THIS is hypocritical!!! Martin Luther King looked forward to a day when a man was judged by character not the color of his skin. Today's "civil rights leaders" look for a day when a man IS judged by the color of his skin and on that basis ALONE gov't will redress EVERY WRONG ever committed in the whole of human history.

This is also UNWORKABLE! How badly were Bill Cosby's or Oprah Winfrey's kids "oppressed" compared to some kid in the inner city? How about the comparable levels of "oppression" for those who descended from slaves versus those who came to America AFTER slavery had been abolished?

Because WE KNOW FOR A FACT that all black people weren't oppressed the same. So WHO is more "oppressed" and how much MORE "oppressed" were they?

If we can't even quantify THAT then HOW can we decide how much "affirmative action" EACH gets??? It is unworkable!!!

Now we should teach history and with that comes some awfully racist moments. If they want to point out that Bull Connor was an unabashed racist then fine. It is the truth. But the idea that ALL whites are racists ignores REALITY and the heroism of those white people who supported the civil rights movement (which BTW was a majority of white people in the US in the early 1960's).

If the goal is to get to some society that at least in the eyes of the law is somewhat colorblind, THIS sure as hell isn't the way to do it!!!
