Because somebody somewhere would say that they weren't respecting Islamic culture and trying to impose Western values on another culture.

This is reprehensible, but so is female circumcision which is widely practiced in other cultures. There are a lot of such things in many different countries and cultures around the world.

Either we take them all on, ignore them all, or we pick the battles where their way directly affects our way and fight those battles. It's sickening but much of the world has sickening customs. We should focus on not letting their sickening customs infect our own country as they're starting to do - like no religious articles worn in school UNLESS you're Muslim, then you get to cover your face because of your religion.
