| Irish, Scots, Greek, English, Dutch, Spanish and Seneca Iroquois here. Of course when the mix is mostly from Western Europe it's just "white".
I think a mixed white/black person is going to be considered black by society and that makes them choose to identify that way. Other kids will tell them that they are black. Same if they inherit Asian or even Hispanic features from one parent.
So I don't really think that the individuals make the choice for themselves; others in their environment do. Peers, the dominant parent, which grandparents are more in their lives. |
