I think that many of our troops feel like they want to "finish what they started". That mixed with a fat bonus helps. Many don't have much else going for them back home...

Yeah, it is the bonuses. I've heard if you convince a friend to enlist you get even more of a bonus.
When I graduated high school they tried to use the G.I. Bill to get people in, I guess younger generations needed a little more convincing...
