I'm an egomaniac

I just read something that both amused me and pissed me off. I posted an ad on cragslist a few days ago advertising that the 50s punk/cover band I'm doing is looking for a drummer. I described in good detail what we're looking for. I looked at it today and someone had posted this.....not really an ad, but an immature way of slamming me on a public forum.

http://gulfport.craigslist.org/muc/616493986.html nice spelling don't you think?

Now I've been called worse so my feelings aren't hurt. I understand that in a large area of musicians you have mostly mediocre to poor musicianship. I've played with pros and I've played with the mediocre type. Is it egotistical that I consider myself professional? Should I apologize for wanting the same in band mates? Or does wanting to play with good musicians make me an asshole? I think professional musicians can hear someone for about 10 minutes and know if they can "cut it" or not. I like to think I can do the same. I don't try to play outside my limitations and if I see someone that can't cut it I move on to someone else until I find someone that can cut it. I've never said that I'm better than anyone else and don't think I'm better than everyone. There are people on this board that are better at what they do than I am at what I do. Bert for one on bass, Alex at drums and the list goes on.

I'm convinced that whoever posted this (since they didn't have the integrity or courage to post their name or email address) is a poor, mediocre musician that can't cut it. And I've probably passed on them in the past in order to find someone that can cut it. And rather than try to show me up musically and blow my ass off stage, they posted an anonymous slam on the internet because they can do that better than they can play their instrument. And they can't spell.
