Have you read about the Mayan Calendar, and how the tree of life opened up when the Earth was created, how the sun, Mars (I believe, I know it is another planet, maybe Venus?) and the Earth will line up on 12/21/2012, and the tree of life is suppose to open again and release their god?
I believe that is how the story goes, it has been a while since I have read about it, but it is a pretty interesting read. Especially for history types and astronomy types (like me). It explains their beliefs on the whole calendar system, and they were brilliant for ancient people.
I personally do not think the world will end on that day, but you guys are right, there are a lot of interesting calculations that bring that day up. So you may be right, it may be serious bidness!!!
I believe it is the day the internet goes down forever, and robots take over and enslave the human race... probably not, but hey, it would make a cool movie anyway, and if the internets goes down we are all screwed, haha!
