| Well Jessa I agree to a certain extent.
If it were on the world stage (i.e. the President was abroad or was giving a speech directed abroad e.g after 911 "those who tore down these towers will hear from all of us") then I agree with the old cliche "politics stops at the water's edge".
But this was a baseball game in country and one of the glorious traditions we have in this country is the right to criticize our leaders.
Perhaps an example will help:
In the MIDDLE OF A WAR the majority leader of the Senate calls the President a liar and says we have lost the war.
In the middle of an election a partisian democrat calls the president (who is running for re-election) a liar saying the President broke his "no new taxes" pledge.
The first is damn near TREASONOUS (it aids our enemies and endangers our troops) and that speaker should be run out of town.
The second is fine. It is political expression and endangers the life of NO ONE!!!! |
