| Two stories:
1) Listened to a band with a friend. We both agreed that they sucked ass, be he felt obliged to go to their shows, because they were friends. Band steps off stage. Asks my friend, "so what do you think." My friend replies, "Oh, totally awesome shits, yo!" I knew then and there to be honest, and I would want others to say, "Dude, no, go work on it."
2) Checked out a friends band. My friend was a hell of a bass player, not the best technically, but he knew how to rock out. His band was so lame, and so dead, that he as the bass player had to take center stage and be "the show". Nothing against bass players, but most of the time the singer needs to win the crowd and get them into it. My friend comes off stage, and asks "What do you think?" I say, "Dude, when did you join Three Doors Down?" That was my way of saying it sucked, and you need to work on your own sound, instead of ripping off every radio band out there. He was my friend, he deserved to be in a better band, or at least have his band try a little harder. It may have been blunt, but that is my style, and he understood that. I think he deserved the truth.
Anyway, so yeah, a lot of nothing to say tell them the truth. |
