| As for South Africa, I imagine the white Afrikaners would like to go back to the way it was. But black South Africans are probably ambiguous about it, because their lives were pretty fucked up under apartheid anyway. The freedom to go out and rob people to survive might be an improvement to them from apartheid, where they were just as poor but well-armed government troops were ready to cut them down if they got out of line.
The situation is deplorable, but unlike in the USA, the whites in South Africa were always a small minority who ruled by means of firepower advantage.
Nothing we can do about it, though, but let them kill each other. Our prescence would be far from welcome by anybody involved. |
