The Dallas Observer is a newspaper/magazine that comes out every month. It's like the Coast Observer. You can view it online.
There is a bar called The Double Wide that books bands but I haven't been in there yet.
The area known as Deep Ellum is supposed to be here most of the bands are. But from what I hear it's dying out.
I know several bands play in Denton which is close by...I think it's about an hour from Dallas.
This guy is a DJ for a local radio station. They play local music on Sundays. I guess he is Dallas's Special K? I haven't met him or anything, but I would guess he is a good place to start.

Rock Steady is a live music venue. It's an all ages place. I haven't been there yet either but they seem pretty popular. It's in Plano.
