I use graphic eq pre to my x over.
That way if one or the other craps out, I can make do.
I have set up as a pass filter on the eq, so I really don't need a x over unless I was setting a 2 or 3 way x over, which I do sometimes, but its a f'n pain. I like the kiss method.
