I can see the flames standing on the porch at Admin. 1 at NGSS.

Fire Breaks Out At Chevron Refinery

Fire has broken out at the Chevon refinery in Pascagoula. It happened about 2:15 this afternoon in a processing area of the plant. Plant officials say this is a significant fire, but no injuries have been reported. Officials say there is no danger to the community, but an evacuation of the plant is a possibility.

They believe that hydrocarbon gasoline is what is burning right now, and emergency officials have responded to the scene. Smoke can be seen for several miles and at one time, flames were reported shooting as high as nearby tree tops. WLOX News will have more on the story later today.

Hope the national news doesnt get a hold of this, they'll have a reason to hike gas prices.

I was taking a nap when it happened and then I was on my way to get my niece from school when my sister called and asked if everyone was ok. I said, yes... Then she told me about what happened at Chevron. I think I got stuck in the traffic coming from there.

I was across the street working at First Chemical.
The phones started ringing off the hook in the control room...
Is it First Chemical? NO...
Was it a terrorist plane? I don't know...
I quit answering the phone, and directed the calls to the front desk.
All that we were told is that a line burst and the fire started.
No explosion.
During all this a nearby tank close to the fire burst from the heat, flames shot 300-400' in the air. It was a massive fireball.
Don't let the downplay fool ya. I was 1/4 mile away, and could feel the heat from the flames.
Fill your tanks NOW...gas will definately go up. They don't need a legitimate excuse but this is a good one. A bad one for consumers.

Thank God no one was injured.
The only injury will be our pocket books.

It's the clich's that cause the trouble. To lose someone you love is to alter your life for ever. You don't get over it because 'it' is the person you loved. The pain stops, there are new people, but the gap never closes. How could it? The particularness of someone who mattered enough to grieve over is not erased by anyone but death. This hole in my heart is in the shape of you and no one else can fit. Why would I want them to??
