Rep Power: 42 ![]() | yep... we should all just pack it up, sell all our equipment and start over with something else, like landscaping. I hear grass is even better these days, especially around here, Its growing everywhere...

Rep Power: 18 ![]() | I have been off this forum for about a month and I have had time to really go through this process. Lets look at the over view as to why this site does not work. First all things considered Katrina did major damage not just to the coast line. We have less people, less bars, less in the business over all. Second while this is a good idea not enough know about it, I was really motivated when I first got here and lets say the motivation wore off quickly. There are a few people here that are a pleasure to speak with and others who are way to in love with themselves. I have made some really good friends, I also have made some less than friendly acquaintances. I under stand there is a pecking order but because I am new and not established I have had loads of problems getting something going. So a month ago I jumped off here and decided to say fuck it, what a fantastic thing to do. My mistake was to think that this was the scene and the who's who is here. I was mistaken and how glad I am that this is the truth. There are other projects out there and I have been blessed with landing in one now. I am in a variety band similar to Isis and what a bunch of talented folks. With the Variety aspect I am not able to expirence the funk side of guitar playing (loads of double stops and 9th chords). I will let you know once we are in the local area, we have a Wedding Gig in two weeks in Slidell and I do not currently have our schedule, but its really cool going from Sweet Home Ala, to I feel good to Play that funky music white boy and drop into Red Neck Woman. The 5150 is getting shelved again because the stereo Teck21's were made for doing exactly this. If I may make a suggestion and forgive me if I am wrong what is needed here is a little less love me and quite a bit more helpful attitude. This website and quite a few people here have made it what it is, a tunnel vision of what people want the coast to be; not what it actually is. Sad really sad OBTW its was great to play again with a steady set of musicians.......... Jocko |

Rep Power: 30 ![]() | "it's the same old story....same old song and dance......my friend" That looks like the same post I've read about 10 or 15 times before! lol This site does not represent the scene, just a small part of it. It's a pretty good starting point to be sure, if you are new in town. YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR ASS OUT OF THE HOUSE in order to find your own "scene" around here. You have to work for it. Hell.... I didn't meet a single one of my band mates through this site.... but I did get pointed in the right direction for a first gig. I think there are a few people in this world that take themselves (and what others say) a little too seriously. Last edited by The Good Reverend, MATCHEW; 04-03-2008 at 12:13 PM. |
