Yes its a good studio for the area. Does some jingles, been alot of hip hop as of late. One of the first bands to ever record there was my last band II far Gone.
Didn't care for the engineer, he was fresh out of the conservatory, he did great getting the tracks recorded, but his mastering skills was lacking. Haven't dealt with any of his work lately maybe he has gotten better

the yellow 8 1/2 x 11 union card all the players sign is a contract stating the obvious 'work for hire' stuff along with the union pay scale depending on the intended use for the music recorded during the session: demo, limited pressing, master, tv/film, etc. one of the major benefits of being in the union (and signing the card) is if what you worked on moved from a demo (for instance) to a master, or tv/film use, you'd get another check in the mail for the difference in rates. if you do a union session, you sign the card.

I don't remember reading all that...drugs?...LOL

i had a feature in december's issue on mixing...11 things i learned the hard way...or something like that.

i also have some videos up on their video site- www.eqmag.tv . click on "lessons" then "mix down" is one of mine, along with "DIY cable construction".

i have a video review of Violet microphones that should be up there shortly. it's pretty cool, i also uploaded hi-resolution, time-stamped .wav files of the mics to my server and include links so people can download them and draw their own conclusions in their environment...instead of "hearing" the mics via the video camera's microphone converted to an mp4 video, lol.

they've asked me to start writing some articles on the projects i've got coming up...which is really cool. i get to help promote the artists i'm working with- sweet!

I know that hip hop and rap is a big thing for some, but loops and ummm rapping to me doesn't require much talent, so I don't see where a rap producer should get the accolades they do...which explains why I didn't read the issue...LOL

nope- not that issue...the one before that (i think). pink floyd is on the cover...perhaps you read that one, unless you don't think they should get the accolades they do...lol.

i also write for tape op from time to time too...do you get that mag?
