studio warm up techniques- a must see!

i was cast as the recording engineer in a independent film and the editor cut me a short treatment for my myspace page as a thanks...there's a lot of good warm up techniques to learn from in there...

have to say I haven't been privileged to work with anyone of that caliber yet-

I always crack up when I think about the time a few years back (I was recording a band at my place)- we were monitoring playback in the control room and the guitarist was looking at me but responding to what the bassist was saying. Problem was the bassist wasn't in the room, he was on tape.
When the guitarist figured out he was talking back to the recording, he got a little embarrassed.

the clock is tickin' dude.
my patience has a tendacy to run out about the 12th take.
I did 12 takes for a bassist in a local band last year, and unbelieveably he was oblivious to what he was screwing up which was so obvious (to me anyway) it was their last song on the ep they wanted to record.
The rest of the band had left.
It was new and he still didn't have it down.
After the 12th take, I told him PURRRRRRRRRFECT!
He packed up and was on his way.
Then next day I did the song for him, and to this day they don't know it.

I don't think I could listen to the same song 12 times in a row either.

it's the hardest part, to me. You get these songs stuck in your head for days afterward, and there's nothing worse if it's not a particularly great tune.
