You're right, I really don't know you. On the other hand, even if you've talked to friends about it, you don't know how much Katrina changed this place if you haven't been here. To be honest I don't know if Katrina had anything to do with the fest going inside. I know all those nice oak trees were stripped of their leaves and looked dead for a long time, though I think they're coming back now. It just seemed petty, with the destruction of this place, to bicker about it not being like it used to be, and I do apologize for giving you a hard time about that. At your age you probably can't imagine being my age (50) and mourning my homeland that no longer exists. Because I was gone from 1983 to 2003 in Los Angeles, I sort of feel that I just got back and adapted to what was familiar and what had changed, when it was all wiped out. Then a year later, my best friend, who was half the reason I even came back from L.A., also died. So yeah, I am probably a little too touchy on the subject. Everybody has a sob story, especially since the storm, and many people have worse than mine. I'm not telling it for the boo-hoo factor, just by way of explaining why I went off the deep end on this subject. So again, sorry for that. Though I do still think that CPR probably wanted to move it inside because its core audience is getting older and less able to tolerate the summer heat. It's not that it's getting hotter, it's that a lot of people are less able to tolerate it as they age. That definitely applies to me and a lot of my friends.

Rep Power: 44 ![]() | I went to the first cpr fest that was inside. The only thing I remember about it was the sound bounced off of everything and made all the bands sound horrible. It was just noise. Then there were very few booths at all. And with the concrete floor beer bottles were broken everywhere and audience surfing was very very dangerous. People were in a pissy mood in general. I saw two pregnant ladies attack a guy because he was trying to move through the crowd to bring drinks back to his friends. And going backstage to see anybody was like pulling teeth. So it sucked for me. |

I didn't mean any disrespect when I mentioned the blog, I meant it quite litrally, I think you have a lot to say and I like the way you write. I don't know how to show true emotion through a web posting, so I guess I just have to sound like an idiot and type it out like this.

I meant no disrespect at all and I'm sorry if I came off that way. I enjoy debate, and you're right, sometimes words on the Internet fall short of conveying meaning or intent. You don't even realize it until the other person reacts differently than you'd think based on what you meant, versus what they perceived from it. I think a lot of us here are kind of shell-shocked about the whole Katrina and post-Katrina era and yet everybody is conditioned to NOT complain because everybody knows people who are worse off than they are. So you internalize until something that shouldn't even matter can make you snap for a moment. Or maybe I should just say that about myself instead of lumping everybody else in. So again I'm sorry for giving the wrong impression. I have a lot of respect for you from what I've read of your posts here and really did not want to imply anything otherwise. I guess when I read your initial comment my reaction was that we're lucky to still even have CPR Fest, but I expressed that very poorly. Sincere apologies to you from this cranky old dude!

I'm sure I'm not prepared to the fullest and in a way, I'm prepared to not be prepared for what I experience when I come home.
