Doors Drummer Goes Solo

John Densmore, the former drummer for rock legends The Doors, has filed for divorce from his wife of 16 years, documentary filmmaker Leslie Neale.

Densmore filed divorce papers in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Dec. 8, citing "irreconcilable differences." The couple has one child, a 14-year-old daughter, Luka.

After the Doors dissolved in 1973, Densmore has been involved in various projects, including dance, stage, and TV acting gigs. He wrote an autobiography about The Doors, "Riders on the Storm," and has famously rejected the overtures of several companies looking to license Doors songs for advertising, including Cadillac.

Densmore and Neale jointly produced the 2004 documentary "Juvies," which Neale also directed.

Jim Morrison Book

I'm reading a book right now about Jim Morrison called, "No One Here Gets Out Alive." He was an AWESOME performer. According to the book, they actually had to hire someone just to make sure he would make it to gigs, recording sessions and stuff. It's a pretty good book and paints a good picture of him as a person, as well as a performer. He was actually very intelligent, had read tons of books, made straight A's in college and could quote almost anyone. His passion was for writing poetry more than anything. Drugs and alcohol did him in though. Pretty sad. But if you ever want to read a good book about his life, that's a good read!

Have you ever read Wonderland Avenue by Danny Sugarman (mgr for The Doors after Morrison died)? I believe he co-authored No One Here Gets Out Alive. He actually began working for The Doors when he was real young... I think at 12 or 13 yrs old. This book paints a very poignant picture of the LA scene back in those days... so if you like No One Here... you'll like Wonderland Avenue. I've also read a few other of Sugarman's books... I really like his excellent style of tale. I wish he had written more before he passed away.
