JaWar, Author of the Music Industry Connection Book Series and Kemetic Records began MT101 as a four-panel workshop in March 1998 on the campus of Clark Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia. One of the primary goals was to give students practical knowledge that would help them to succeed in the music industry. Areas of interest included marketing and promotions, entertainment law, studio recording, public relations and retail. Since its inception the seminars have grown into a regular discussion on the business of music. The information that is provided during a Music Therapy 101 music industry workshop, seminar or conference is invaluable to aspiring artists, singers, songwriters, rappers, producers, musicians, music publicists, publishers, graphic artists, DJs, talent showcase and open-mic organizers, recording studio engineers, music consultants, vocal coaches, mastering engineers, photographers, video production companies, record pool directors, business managers, road managers, music promoters and entrepreneurs in the music business. During a music industry seminar, workshop or conference attendees learn current trends in the business of music and how to sharpen their skills from professionals in the industry.
