Sea Wolves home opener Oct 27th!!!!!

BILOXI, MS – The ECHL has released the schedule for the 2007-2008 regular season and, after a two year hiatus, the Sea Wolves will begin their 10th season on Oct. 19th as they take on the Florida Everblades in Estero. The highlight for local fans will be the return of professional hockey to Mississippi with the home opener on Saturday, Oct. 27th against the Reading (PA) Royals.

The ECHL 2007-2008 regular season schedule features 24 week-end home games for the Sea Wolves. The team’s longest road trip includes a 9 day trek through the Southeast Conference from Nov. 30th through Dec. 22nd. This trip is preceded by the team’s longest home stand, eight games from Nov. 14th through Nov. 28th.

The 2007-2008 schedule includes the traditional Thanksgiving day game against Augusta.

Sea Wolves President Bill Yates feels that the schedule is favorable to the team. “From a travel standpoint it is about as good as it gets. Although we have a couple of longer road trips the travel between the games is minimal.” He adds, “We’ve got a fantastic home schedule and our marketing department is currently putting together the home game promotional schedule. We anticipate some pretty innovative promotions this season.”

Opening Day for the ECHL’s 20th Anniversary Season will be Oct. 18 when the Johnstown Chiefs host the Wheeling Nailers at Cambria County War Memorial in a rematch of Game 7 from the first-ever ECHL Finals.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier ‘AA’ Hockey League in 2007-2008, the ECHL began in 1988-1989 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that will have 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-2008. In addition to the Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals will begin play in the ECHL this season.

The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5. The conference and division alignments and the format for the 2008 Kelly Cup Playoffs will be determined and approved at a later date by the ECHL Board of Governors.

The Sea Wolves will celebrate their 10th season in pursuit of the ECHL's Kelly Cup. Season tickets are now on sale and sponsorship packages are available by calling 228.275.WOLF (9653).
