Rep Power: 40 ![]() | I would say that being honest is the best thing. The truth may hurt a few feelings, but in the end, wasting time with an awful band, the dude may come back years later and say "why didn't anyone tell me we were that awful?"

Rep Power: 41 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think the truth is best but you could put it in a more constructive critism way. I voted for the polishing one but like I said...

Rep Power: 12 ![]() | Two stories: 1) Listened to a band with a friend. We both agreed that they sucked ass, be he felt obliged to go to their shows, because they were friends. Band steps off stage. Asks my friend, "so what do you think." My friend replies, "Oh, totally awesome shits, yo!" I knew then and there to be honest, and I would want others to say, "Dude, no, go work on it." 2) Checked out a friends band. My friend was a hell of a bass player, not the best technically, but he knew how to rock out. His band was so lame, and so dead, that he as the bass player had to take center stage and be "the show". Nothing against bass players, but most of the time the singer needs to win the crowd and get them into it. My friend comes off stage, and asks "What do you think?" I say, "Dude, when did you join Three Doors Down?" That was my way of saying it sucked, and you need to work on your own sound, instead of ripping off every radio band out there. He was my friend, he deserved to be in a better band, or at least have his band try a little harder. It may have been blunt, but that is my style, and he understood that. I think he deserved the truth. Anyway, so yeah, a lot of nothing to say tell them the truth. |

Rep Power: 9 ![]() | Great I'm with Marc on this but... My opinion and the friends opinions may differ for 2 reasons. 1- musical tastes 2- friends do not have any idea what is good, they are biased. Its best not to give your honest opinion when they are within earshot of other band members or band friends, unless you want to fight your way out. Of course if your friend in the band is an idiot and tells them immediately. Hey John Guitarist, Bert said you tone sounded like a cat scratching on a chalkboard, can you do something about it? John's come back...man I got the baddest lil crate combo for $200...tone doesn't get any better than a crate. DUDE...Its time to fire John or take him to the music store, and upgrade from the crate. Preferably something with TONE. Of course when you are creed, 3DD, SOAD, Disturbed, and metallica mixed wannabes. Power cords is you forte, who gives a shit? Your friends love it. My last gig I ended up in the middle of the stage... Yeah my ugly ass on center stage. I moved the mic stands around where Lisa was front and center. I sing very little lead, mostly harmonies. On bass solos I am front and center, to show boat a little. I prefer not having any accompaniment when I solo. It throws me off. I march to the beat of a different drummer. LOL
