Thats why BOTB's are NOT judged like they should be, and the reason we swore we would never attempt to play another.
Wasn't the first time we should have won a BOTB.
It all water under the bridge now, I'm in a new variety cover/original band, and I couldn't be happier.

Yeah, I've done my fair share. One we came in third to a band I really respected (who finished second) and the first place band was some Mobile dinosaurs that win everything. So out of 100 or so bands we didn't do too shabby. Another one I don't think we got a fair shake, the judges used the words "great","entertaining" and "green","new". I knew we were screwed because of our "new" band status. Some other Mobile dinosaurs won.

It is the same old, same old, popularity contest, but what can you do?

SOOOO...now that I read the WHOLE thread....I like the cd idea since I'm unable to attend any shows. Go for it! And make that DVD so I can see my friends have funw without me! lol

Not really, it's relevant. But unfortunately BOTBs will ALWAYS be popularity contests, and fans don't always like the band that's the best musicians.

This was a topic on a thread about cover bands on the JCF guitar forum the other day. One band can be really mediocre as far as chops but will get lots of gigs because they play what people want to hear. The next can be superlative players but if they aren't playing music that people like and are familiar with, they won't get asked back by the club.

This is why KISS and Motley Crue are more popular than Al DiMeola and Steve Vai.

That jeep belongs to Chris Fayard.
I had one. Somebody liked it more than I did, and stole it out of my cord box the very same night Marc gave it to me. Its the same little rat that has my freaking headphones I bet.

Do you know what kind of vehicle they drive? I could cut a couple of valve stems since I can't locate a valve stem wrench.
