It's really a good idea for a band to go on sober anyway. It may seem fun to loosen up before you play, but if you listen to the board tape next day you'll hear that it wasn't as good as you thought it was. Wait til after the show as a reward, that's the better way to go.

Yeah, but listening back to a board tape that sucks ain't rock and roll either... The suckitude of sounding like shit is worse than the suckitude of playing without a buzz IMO. But then, I didn't buy that either when I was young, so why should you?

Yeah... I was being sarcastic. I have played with band members who couldn't hold their alcohol... and it sucks ass. Especially when it is the drummer. Man it is horrible. I say save the drunkage for the encore, when the crowd is all drunk and buying you shots... yelling for more... at like 4:00am... yeah, then it is ok to just play loud and sound like ass (as long as it is "partying", and not playing for anyone important).

Because they are weak? Because they are sitting? I dunno, I know why the drummer in my band couldn't handle it, because he was a light-weight, and he had an ego problem. Light-weight + ego problem = "I'm not listening to you assholes, I am going to do 5 shots of Crown!"

So yeah, that pretty much sums up my experience.
