lets discuss why this board is doing poorly - Page 2

To outline my plan a little....... In the name of GCB we(the 50) meet quarterly at a predetermined location/date. Place the names of the imitate area venues that have live entertainment that night in a hat and pick one. Go there and have a drink or two. This would (1)give the GCB street-sweepers an evening out not knowing what to expect (2) give some unsuspecting band/act a larger interested entergetic audience(we're music lovers genre be damned) and (3)the venue picks up $$$$$. $10 per cap = 2 drinks or 3 beers so reasonably $500-1000. Individually we are each out less than $25 and 4-5 hours from our lives creating some legitimate unbiased noise on the scene. After a time or two I think the Carma would come home to roost and we will have heard some acts/people we would have never seen on a bet. FIELDTRIP!!

I would sign on to this, but the biggest problem here is that when it comes to removing money from individuals to support a cause that is where the money talks and bullshit walks. Except for those who live out of the Tri State Area I would be willing to bet that out of the "Locals" less than half would even cop up $5.00 let alone $25. I could be wrong, sometimes I am but I would be willing to go out on the limb with this one and say I am dead on. Great ideas often fall upon deaf ears of those who scream the most when it comes to being "Committed and Supportive".

I'm pretty sure he's not talking about donating 25 bucks.. he's talking about between cover and drinks you will spend at least that much per person. And if you can go out and spend less than that and drink please share the trick with me.. and besides what's 25 bucks when your having a good time with good friends.

BUT why don't bands post their shows here anymore?

When Marc started GCB, everyone spread the word, this place grew like wildfire.
It can make a comeback...spread the word!!!

"$10 PER CAP= 3 beers or two drinks" was just a way to show benefit to the venue. I will not get out that cheap while someone may not drink at all. As to where, I thought do one in Gulfport, Mobile, Gautier, etc on a rotating basis. As to SSPERT's "it's not worth my time" he's absolutely right, nor, yours or mine at this point but that could change within a year if individuals choose to make a difference for the good of the community.
