lets discuss why this board is doing poorly

I don't think this board is intended solely for bands to obtain and promote shows. That is why there is a lounge, to talk about bullshit, because hey, everyone likes to bullshit and find a common point to relate on. I personally think things are being taken too seriously, it is a messageboard, not a U.N. peace-keeping meeting.

A scene is not a bunch of bands, but bands and all of their supporters. Focusing solely on music will bore some and chase others off. Music should be the center of the board, but other conversation must exist as well.

I've seen every band on here get positive comments, and yes some have received some negative, but if you can't take it go play in your garage. Lose the ego and have some fun. Every musician wants to be liked, but some get their shit all tangled when someone makes a comment that is less than positive.

LOL... that was my whole point. I apologize for taking things too seriously, I got defensive because I felt a bit singled out for discussing things here were things that "shoudn't be discussed" here... but it's all good...I get why that was said now.

As far as bands being upset about negative feedback...I TOTALLY agree that if you're going to perform music, you GOTTA be prepared for people to not like you. If we all liked the same thing, music would suck. PERIOD.

Exactly. Bands get too touchy. So you can play an instrument, thousands of others can too. If you like to entertain, then entertain, just don't expect to be everyones' cup of tea.

If someone does not like a band, or their sound, it is better to inquire why than to start a shit storm. It is either not within their tastes, they are just being an asshole, or the person actually has a legitimate reason. Hopefully if they hate your Polka band because they hate Polka, you can call them on their shit and they will leave you alone.

Drama does draw attention, and it can get interesting. I don't think the drama chases people away, but I could be wrong.

You know some people can only take so much beating on and being blamed for things that are not their fault. I love finger pointing especially when its those who are directly at fault when they attempt to place blame elsewhere.

This place will only be as strong as its weakest link and when one of the strongest supporters is blamed for diverting traffic away its a sad day. I am somewhat new here but I do have my thoughts about those who are here. Bert does not spread the bullshit, if he is to blame for something then he will take the responsibility for his actions. Bert might have a LIST or Thread within the GCB internals so what; maybe if a few of you would get off your damn high horse (by the way who put you there in the first place). I would use Bert for his expirence and his knowledge in playing, not get pissed because your band sounds like crap. How many people here on this board have played for 38 years in bands, don't worry I'll wait for your answer. What about those who have played in studios and got paid for laying down tracks as a session musician (again I will wait for that reply).

All this finger pointing when you have such great assests here or these older guys who have been playing longer than you have been out of diapers; shame on every one of you. I don't give a shit who's site this is, I don't give a shit who can do what; you need to get you head out of your ass and start listening to those who have the expirence.

How dare you, and you know who you are. By the way your band sucks ass as does your playing. Maybe you should listen to what Bert has to say about singing and musical equipment.

It's musicians emotions that get touchy. A man that plays an instrument, is just like a woman on that time of the month. I've been following around bands since I was 14. I've seen this a time or too. Anything passionate really... is like a perminate pms! lol.
