New Years Dinner

Every year I make the traditional cabbage, black eyed peas and cornbread. What is a good thing to go along with that?

I would take an extra cabbage. Boil it about 5 to 6 min to make the leaves soft. Take some firm stickey rice, mix that with some of the peas but don't cook the peas completely. Then add in garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and thyme. Take a small ball of the mixture and wrap it in the cabbage leaf. You should get a lot of of small cabbage balls.

Get some spaghetti sauce (or make your own like I always do lol) and top each cabbage ball with it. Bake for 30min and it should be pretty damn good. I new twist on an old tradition I guess.

That sounds perfect! Except the peas. Gotta leave the peas out. Peas are the devil.

I thought you meant green peas. Those are the devil.

I wound up making field peas and rice. Nothing special.

For breakfast New Years day I made Amaretto Vanilla French Toast with thick cut bacon.

Last night was Garlic and Herb pasta with grilled chicken. And Bloody Marys.
