Toro - Japanese Food/Shusi

I went to this place last night.
It's located over in D'Iberville accross from The Outback Steakhouse.

This place was outstanding.
The Sushi is the best that I've had since I moved to the coast.
The owner was pleaseant to talk to and the astmosphere was great.
(I did notice that it the most kid freindly place in the world, though)

The one thing that stuck out for me was.....
They have a conveyer belt (much like the one that hauls your luggage at the air port) that has Sushi specials on it.
The specials come by you and all you have to do is take the one you want. Very convientiant and a good way to try something you may not have otherwise; a great visual aid to ordering sushi.

The owner explained to me that they were from California where the standards are much higher than in Mississippi. Everything from health inspectors, patrons etc.
He said that the conveyor belt was designed special by a designer from Japan.
Pretty cool.

The only downside was the waitress I had.
She was a little ditsy.
But they gave me 10% off for my troubles.

All in all a Great dining out.
I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

I'd recommend Toro to anyone. It is my absolute FAVORITE here on the coast.

Make plans to check it out on Saturdays...

from 11am to 2pm, you can sit at the bar and eat from the conveyor belt. Each plate costs only 2.99, and if there is a roll you'd like to try, all you have to do is request it.

Bottom line:

Do it.

Yea, that's the conveyer belt i was talking about.
it's a must do.

my only experience with sushi involved a trip to the restroon with a napkin on my face.
I probably needed more saki.

I've eaten there once and it was amazing. I've been splurging on sushi lately and have learn to broaden my expectations.

i'll go go when i have a date again. the last time i went on an awesome date so i might as well keep the same standards.....so i will probably eat there sometime in 2009.......
