Spotlight Artist of the Week - Black Kids 10/13/07

Black Kids are an unsigned band from Jacksonville, Florida, who don't have a record and have never been on tour but are suddenly being tipped as the next big thing. The band consists of Owen Holmes (bass), Kevin Snow (drums), Dawn Watley (keys+vocals), Ali Youngblood (keys+vocals) and Reggie Youngblood (vocals+guitar). The music of Black Kids is often compared with Arcade Fire, Go! Team, The Cure and My Bloody Valentine and the band was highly praised from Pitchfork, NME and The Guardian. The indie blog community welcomed them with an excitement and the song 'I'm not gonna teach your boyfriend how to dance with you' became an ultimate hit. You can download Black Kids' four-song demo, Wizard of Ahhhs, for free on their MySpace-- it's not available in stores.

I caught them in the new RS. Nice concept...is the name politically correct?? discuss.

I may start a band called the Jew Boyz. any comments. (we won't be performing on Shomer-Shabbas)

Fuck being politically correct, that is what is wrong with this soccer mom, suburbia, litigation inspired society.

If it offends you grow some balls.

People need to quit getting their panties in a big wad and get over it. Everyone seems to take things too personal these days, probably driven by the ease of being "seen" by the public (myspace, youtube, so on and so forth), so "that comment must surely be directed towards me."

Did you ever stop and think... "hmm, everyone in the world may not share the same taste in cinema as me," or do you just assume everyone should get your quips on modern life?

I don't care if you're a jew, or black, or a blew.

I guess "discuss" now means bow down to my mighty opinion and/or sarcasm.

Your post focused on political correctness, which ladies and gentlemen is pure unadulterated bullshit.

It's less of a soapbox and more of a mole-hill, a large one (get it, making mountains of mole-hills, that's sarcasm too).
