Mikael is allowed to buy Marc a drink and leave right after
Unhappy

Boss pedals rule! Having said that, I prefer going with a rack so I can change my combination of effects with one stomp. I miss my Katrina-flooded rack!

I had a thread in the bands only section about live set-ups before marc had to rebuild it...

but I go through an octaver with no name, boss ce-5 chorus, ibanez ts9 tube screamer, boss ph3 phase, and a boss dd6 digital delay.

That goes to my Line 6 spider II.

I wanted to get that Giga Delay, but, as a college student on a budget tighter than 80's spandex, I couldn't justify the price I would've spent on it. I can always rob the band account, I suppose.

I don't have as many pedals as I used to, I do have these:

BOSS SD-1
BOSS EH-1 Enhancer
BOSS HM-2 Heavy Metal
BOSS DF-2 Distortion/Feedbacker
Ibanez Soundtank Compressor
Ibanez Soundtank Digital Delay
Guyatone SV-2 Slow Volume Swell pedal
Ross distortion

When I was a kid I had the EH Memory Man and Electric Mistress; I liked them but in those days the ADA Flanger was the shit, it had that deep Pat Travers/EVH sweep that the Electric Mistress didn't quite have. I'm sure they've updated it, this was late 70s.

Then I have a few floor multieffcts including:

ZOOM 503 Amp Simulator
ZOOM 506 Bass Effects
ZOOM 3030 Multieffect
ART Xtreme Distortion/Effects - GREAT distortion and OK digifex. Not very tweakable on the efx but the presets are usable, and the 3 distortions are
really cool: Xtreme (thrash) Scream (Tube Screamer) and Retro (Fuzz).
Digitech RP-3 multi
Digitech RP-7 multi

The RP-3 and RP-7 both have intelligent harmonizers, which is pretty fun. They don't have the best harmony quality but they track pretty well and work for live. Of course in a studion I'd just record the harmony manually. The ZOOMS aren't the greatest but the 503 and 506 were so cheap they were worth buying used, and the 3030 has an okay acoustic simulator and an intelligent harmonizer which are nice.

My rack is a pretty small rack. It consists of:

Peavey Rockmaster tube preamp - the best CHEAP preamp around IMO!
Digitech IPS33 Harmonizer/Chorus
Ibanez HD1000 Harmonics/Delay
Rocktron Intellifex Online
BBE 422A Sonic Maximizer

Funny thing is, with all that half the time I just plug straight into my amp! Sometimes you feel like using effects, sometimes you get sick of them.

Thing i have been most pleased with since i moved from using the boss GT-8 to using all single fx is the fact that when i was using the GT8 i most certainly didn't have the compressor or eq set up worth a damn. I play through a Mesa boogie triple rectifier - turns out I really don't need a compressor or an eq - sounds WAY better without it....

i read everywhere that using delays in the fx loop of ur amp is the thing to do...why is that? how is it better than just running it last in the line of fx?

I used to use an rp-12, wah pedal, 4-way floor board with chorus, distortion, delay & reverb and a separate reverb pedal, forgot the brand. now I just use my FBX floorboard (line 6). Love it.

Even if you run it last in line on your FX, it's still before your pre-amp. So you're basically distorting your FX instead "effecting" your distortion. Using the FX loop bypasses the effect until your signal goes through the pre-amp, giving you a better defined sound.
