We can make the Guitar Hero game jokes, but how many real guitar players are like me and can play guitar, but suck at Guitar Hero? I felt just like the dad in the Guitar Hero episode of South Park when my buddy's kid got the game. I can play a real guitar but I sucked bad at the game.

Meanwhile the kid mastered Level 1 in a few hours...

My girls have the game though I've never played it myself. From watching them, it looks to me like there could be a problem if you really do play guitar because the "trigger" or whatever it's called on the toy guitar looks like it has to be flipped just a tad early (in relation to the song's meter) as you watch the little colored thingies.

Or it could just be that I'd suck at it.

Yeah, you have to "play" ahead of the beat or you'll miss the notes most of the time. Also, you have to throw your normal playing ideas of up and down pitchwise out the window, since there are only 5 "notes". You just have to play the "tab" as it comes down the pike - and again, just ahead of the beat.

I already know that I suck at it, but I just decided to leave it to the gamers rather than try to get good at it. A man's got to know his limitations, after all....
