Dallas Contacts, anybody?

I'm moving to Dallas this summer so.....
is there a Dallas Musicians/Band site out there that anyone knows?
Any venues I should look in to?

Any help would be kickass.

The Dallas Observer is a newspaper/magazine that comes out every month. It's like the Coast Observer. You can view it online.

There is a bar called The Double Wide that books bands but I haven't been in there yet.

The area known as Deep Ellum is supposed to be here most of the bands are. But from what I hear it's dying out.

I know several bands play in Denton which is close by...I think it's about an hour from Dallas.

This guy is a DJ for a local radio station. They play local music on Sundays. I guess he is Dallas's Special K? I haven't met him or anything, but I would guess he is a good place to start. http://www.myspace.com/ayoontheedge

Rock Steady is a live music venue. It's an all ages place. I haven't been there yet either but they seem pretty popular. It's in Plano. http://www.myspace.com/rocksteadylive

Yea I heard from a few people that several venues have closd down in Deep Ellum.
I also heard that Denton is "where it's at".

I'll be living with friends in Dallas at first.
I'm not sure where I'll hang my hat after that.
Definatley North I just don't know that I'll live all the way up in Denton.

I hear Addison is good. I hear Plano isn't so good. But I don't know the whys. I'm in McKinney and I like it minus the lack of bars and thus bands. Otherwise I like McKinney.

Oh, I think Frisco might be a nice place to live. I think Frisco is supposed to be cheap when it comes to apartments.

Let me know when you get here. We can have a beer or 20.
