the dead horse that is lars and napster was more about principle than money. I think Lars was hoping to make more money by going against napster, not by selling albums, but by the publicity, which, in the end, he got anyways....

on the other hand, bands that try and go against the labels, have an advantage these days, not from freedom, but from the publicity against the labels reputation. To the average Joe, it means they have a really affordable album, but to the music industry, It means they are lowering the bar/raising the bar, however you like to see it...

Which I believe is a good thing. Change is inevitable, and healthy, and its about time there was an overhaul of the music industry...
