| GCB Chili Cook-Off ????????
The 18th Annual Chili Cook-Off The American Cancer Society’s 18th Annual Chili Cook-Off is set for Saturday, March 3, 2007 at Bienville Square, Downtown Mobile. Mobile Gas is our Title Sponsor for the event. The Chili Cook-Off is a fun filled day of food, family fun and entertainment. Nearly 90 chili teams, representing businesses, families and civic groups cook-up the best chili in the area. Teams compete for great prizes in categories like all meat, meat and beans, wild game and vegetarian. Proceeds from the event will be used for local educational programs to teach the importance of early detection and prevention; patient services such as transportation, counseling and emergency financial aid; and lifesaving research. The Chili Cook-Off began in 1989 and raised $550.00 for the American Cancer Society. The event has grown dramatically with the 2006 event having 84 teams and raising over $150,000. We are interested in sponsoring a team for this event,BUT... the catch is this;
You've got to win the preliminaries held by the GCB Board.We would like to do this to not only get to eat free food,but to help Marc recoup some of the funds that he, personally,gave up to keep this site running.We are thinking that a $25 entry fee per team,would help tremendously in this cause and we get to send the winning team to the Mobile Gas/American Cancer Society Cookoff in Mobile which has grown to be a huge event over the past few years.Our cook off would consist of ,live music,(Of Course),drink specials,and some great comradery.Anybody out there willing to participate? |
