I read all of the posts that are are here. it's no wonder the site doesn't do any better than it does. No one is ever happy for anyone, pot shots are taken like it's freaking high school, your biggest political activists complain about the state of the world and government, but I have seen no plans or activities geared toward fixing it. I have to say that I am amazed the forum has lasted this long. How about we start trying to be positive and supporting the scene around here? When was the last time you donated to the site? When was the last time you posted anything on the calender? How about a helpful article for bands and up and coming musicians? Marc runs this site out of pocket and has done so out of love for the music scene. Maybe instead of trying to make yourself feel better about your short comings by ripping on others, you could try doing something productive for a change? This is me stepping off of my soap box and going outside to enjoy the sun. |

I still support local bands, but as I'm 2000 miles away, I can only do so much. For example, Man Down's "a Hazy Waste" has been my myspace profile song for over two months now. Maybe if someone hears the song and likes it, they'll become a fan, too.
I still have a GCB banner on my profile, and I have never stopped appreciating what Marc and the regular posters here are doing for the Coast music scene.

I pick, and I get picked on back.
Don't take shit so serious damn.
Like playing music if you can't have fun it isn't worth doing.
I'd rather have people honest with me than blow smoke up my ass and say to another.
You hear that new band...they are terrible.
The girls say he is so hot...fuck that.
If you are GQ boy you better play more than the game.
My appreciation is for good music.
There are some bands that are ok, and some that are pretty good, and some that downright suck.
But thats my preference, and opinion.
Whats good music to one isn't for the next. If everybody's music taste was the same, and music genres the same, it would be a boring world.
I'm happy for bands that actually make it.
Show me the next big thing.
If they are smart they will move to a major metropolis, and get away from this arm pit of the south that we call the gulf coast.
I donate to GCB from time to time, which is more than most can say.
Most have donated nothing.
I have been here from the inception, been through its ups and downs been deleted and back.
I paticipated in benefits, and meet and greets at my own expense.
To say I haven't donated to the scene, you don't know me.
I haven't done it in a while because, I haven't volunteered, haven't been asked to help, and Marc knows that I would help in a heart beat if he asked me to help.
Those who know me know that...
