1: Am I missing something here? This is forum and forum according to Webster is "a public meeting place for open discussion c: a medium (as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas".

2: I stay away from the political side of the forum because my views are not the same as most. I firmly believe in the Death Penalty, the kid who did John in is fantastic candidate for that position. I have lived all over the world and one thing I know for a fact is that we are just to damn easy on all lawbreakers. Just ask any victim of a violent crime and see how they feel when the criminal gets off because of Cruel and Unusual Punishment. I have been to the Philippines where that kid got caned and I firmly believe with public punishments like that (televised even)our crime rate will drop drastically and quite quickly. Either through attrition or common sense.

3: Thread stealing, I really do not understand this concept. I know what it is but I am unsure why its stealing. If someone makes a post about Car X being the fastest in the world and I say I have Car Y and its the best and everyone agrees with me. Is it stealing or another path of the original post/thread?

4: Helpful articles where have you been? Did you see all the stuff about studios and the advice in there? He lets take it a step further, while we have not met you may not know anything about me but I do about you. Part of being a musician is to know who is out there IMO. Why not start a thread on Modes? Scales etc....

As far as the site I think its a great Idea and I have spoke with Marc about various subjects and I do have the site links on my personal webserver (I average over 400 hits a day and its not about porn) and on MySpace and I tell as many people about the GCB Site that will listen to me.

I am being honest and said this on another thread is everything OK, you not like your usual self and it appears as if something bad has just happened to you or maybe the stress of work? Hey if you want to take this off line and speak to a stranger PM me and I'll shoot ya my number

You keep referring to my stress...none to speak of..thanks for asking though. I don't hate anyone, I'm just curious as to how anyone thinks that they are helping. You don't know much about me, I can guarantee that. I've stayed away from posting on the site for a while due to all of the bs lately. I'm a mod and see things that most of you don't. All in all I got my point across and made a lot of you post in defense of yourself. I didn't point any actual fingers, but most of you felt the need to ease a guilty conscience. As for the site, I talk to Marc and know his frustration with the site. I thought I might voice my opinion just to see what might happen.

hey- i dig it. a call for more random acts of kindness, cool.

i, for one, have posted several articles (via mark) on the front page over the last few years geared specifically towards helping bands by lending insight and an alternate view on such things as rejection, saving for recording, getting the most out of the studio, press/promotion, etc., and have recently (along with xush) tried a few times to jump start the recording forums with positive subject matter.

i also (with much help from gina turner) set up a meet and greet late last year at the julep room. it was fun- free beer and it was geared towards socializing/zero pressure "do you have any questions about what i do" thing. it was promoted pretty heavily on here way ahead of time and we had a good turnout...but it could (should) have been better due to the # of bands on this site.

did you see those articles/post(s)? if not, read through my myspace blog and let me know if you'd like me to repost anything in particular.

did you make it out to the julep room for the meet and greet? if so- did you not find it a "scene positive" experience?

i'm +/- 400 miles away and have done such things with your local scene...and (gina may argue this point) it didn't take tons and tons of effort....why not take the same energy it took to type your original post and set up a similar meet and greet?

i'm not telling you how to live or anything...just making suggestions based on your advice! lol.

Like everyone has posted so far, WE DON'T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT ANYTHING! We're just trying to help you see the good things on this site you seem to be missing.

i don't think that the poplation of boardies not increasing has anything to do with banter here.
it might have to do with community representation, just shit i hear when i tell people to come here. i apologize and say I didn't know that, and wonder why i apologized. i won't expand on that, because creating a new account is a bitch, and its embarrasing when you get booted off.
