Rep Power: 56 | | | Guitar Solo's! I have trouble thinking of a "recent" song with a killer guitar solo, can anyone else?
Anywho, for some older stuff...here are some solo's worth mentioning:
Pink Floyd - Time (Among others...like, Comfortably Numb, that has a killer guitar solo I believe? Man, I really need to get The Wall)
AC/DC - Whole Lotta Rosie
Eagles - Hotel California (hehe...)
And lots of Zeppelin, obviously...
So, name some guitar solo's that are just so good, you have to air guitar to them. |

Bat Country by Avenged Sevenfold or their new song "Seize the Day"; both are great examples of newer songs with awesome guitar solos.

Rep Power: 50 | | | How about The Smashing Pumpkins song "Stand Inside Your Love".
It has one of my favorite guitar solos ever. Short, simple, but so powerful it gives me chills. That and Metallica's "My Friend of Misery". I know it's not recent, but hey. Recent guitar solos that are good are difficult to come by.

There's lots of stuff in newer metal, like Lamb of God and HIM but nothing too mainstream. Plenty of good lead guitar work in recent sleaze rock underground, like Honky for example. |

Rep Power: 37 | | | As far as resent bands, The Darkness had alot of solos.
My favorite of all time is LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
When Allen Collins, Gary Rossington AND Stevie Gaines are all playing the same lead...lick for lick. Ity just doesn't get any better.
There aren't alot of musicians who can agree on a change let alone an entire lead.
Gimme Back My Bullets is my personal favorite. Whole Lotta Rosie is also a good one, Marc.
I also love the slide guitar lead that Jimmy Page does in
When The Levee Breaks.....fuckin awsome. |
