We live in a culture where we’re told to clean our plates….”don’t throw anything out…if you put on your plate you better eat it”….. Our parents and grandparents didn’t always have it so easy so you can understand why they felt the way they did. But obviously (and thankfully) we don’t have that to worry about today. So…
The next time you pick up a plate or bowl and fill it up, hold that plate or bowl in your hand. Feel the heft, the weight of it. That weight won’t magically dissolve when you eat it, it’s going into
you.
There are stimuli in your brain that tell you when you’ve had enough; when you’re full, but thanks to the way we’ve been brought up, we ignore the signals. The signal is there, identify it, and stop eating when you’ve had enough. It’s not easy at first, but it’ll get easier as you go. Best of luck to you
