Rep Power: 50 | | | I just need to rant a bit... Lance told me that the project they are working on will soon end (He's in construction again) and the next project will be in Ft. Worth. That is at least an hours drive one way on a good day with no traffic. He doesn't want to do that. Of course, gas is so high it's not really worth it. I asked if there are any other projects close by and he doesn't know. Also, he hasn't bothered looking for a new job. Other than calling his dad once a week to see if "that job" is opened yet. So, as usual, I do the job search for him.
In my searches I see something I might like to do. Three somethings, actually. Not only would I like to do but I know without a doubt I CAN do it. Three different offices are looking for admin/receptionist for a real estate office.
I asked Lance what he thought about it, about me doing it. Of course he told me no. He told me I won't have as much time to spend with Aida. He told me I won't have as much time to do school work. He told me some other things but I wasn't listening. ha! I told him I'm getting Aida for three years, not the summer. So it will even out. I told him that even if I completed my school work by the end of the month it will do me no good. We can't AFFORD for me to be a real estate agent! The only way I was going to be able to do it was because he was SUPPOSED to get another job, one that he assured me he had when I left Mississippi.
So I submitted my resume to three real estate office to apply for the admin/receptionist positions. And wouldn't you know, I'm angry about that. I uprooted my life, left everything I know and love, have nearly had several mental break downs, broken my foot, endured constant pain...Just so I can do exactly what I was already doing.
Oh, and one of them is for the same pay I was getting there.... |

You may need to take one of those jobs if it's financially needed and he's going to have to deal.
Easier said than done, I know, but you really don't want to find yourself jobles and homeless in a strange town because he's too proud to deal with the fact that he miscalculated.
My guess is that the RE stuff is tested for on a regular basis, every few months. Taking a job doesn't mean you have to be there forever, but you do have to pay bills regardless. He may still need to go to the next project for awhile, because you go broke fast with NO job, but it sounds like he needs to prioritize finding a different job.
That's not easy after busting your ass all day working construction, but he really needs to accept the idea of you changing your plans for awhile. Best of luck in convincing him that it may be necessary to do so. |

I've been looking at chemical operators again in this area. But that doesn't mean he'll do anything about it. |

Since we are in a one room apartment there isn't much to clean so I get a lot of free time on my hands. When I have too much free time I start thinking too much. Nothing good ever comes of that! ha
We talked about it last night. I told him that obviously now is not the time for me to pursue the real estate thing. It doesn't make sense for us to break our backs when we don't have too. Besides, lack of money will cause undue stress. We don't need that. I can get a decent paying job. He can't, but I can. Heh. |

Rep Power: 16 | | | Mark is the same way about the job thing... It took me a LONG time to get even a little comfy in the 'domestic goddess' roll... it isn't for everyone, but now that I'm working again, I must say, I miss it.
Good luck with your job searches! What does he do? |
