I thought that "Flu" shots were supposed to keep you from getting it...

I've been sick as hell this week with a flu-like bug,and I got my shot 10 days ago.I thought they didn't "give" you the bug anymore;This has sucked ass...

That's why I never got those shots. Because everyone that I know that has gotten it got sick from it. So whats the point eh?

It still can happen Allen.
Flu shots USED to have the swine flu and almost everytime you got the flu.
I like you got my flu shot this year at work. I have been trying to shake this funk I have had for a month. I went to the MD got my antibiotics, but I'm still trying to shake this nagging cough.

Antibiotics don't work on the flu which is a virus; they only work on bacterial infections. But the flue can lead to pneumonia which certain kinds ARE bacterial, and antibiotics WILL help that.

Problem is that people ask for antibiotics anyway and docs prescribe them just to not argue; one reason that bugs are developing resistance to the antibiotics we use.
