Rep Power: 45 ![]() | Nature V. Nurture Is it "how" you were raised, or to "whom" you were born? I think physical aspects of a person are "nature", while psychological aspects are "nurture". But obviously, one has to be more present in humankind. So which do you think it is? Nature V. Nurture?

Rep Power: 47 ![]() | That's a toughie that I have been rolling in my mind for years. How is it that my brother and I were both raised the same way but I always got in trouble and he never did? We don't share the same dad. I found out about five years ago that my real father has the same temperament as I do. But my mom left him when I was six months old. He never had anything to do with me. So which is it? Did my parents just love my brother more? Or is it not my fault, it's just the way I'm made? I think the latter, for the most part, is bull shit. It's more than my mom and dad. It's the teachers I had growing up, the people I hung out with, my next door neighbor, my cat dying when I was in first grade. But then again, cancer and cholesterol can be hereditary? Why can't personality defunct be? Who knows...I certainly don't. I'd like to think that it's not my fault...I was just made this way. But at the same time, does that mean I can't change? I was born with a fence post up my ass...I never make a clear stand one way or another. |

Rep Power: 46 ![]() | its both really. your nature determines how you might initially react. the way you were raised, the nurture, may detemine how you would react after a few minutes of thinking about something, after you calm down or have time to think about something. theyve done numerous experiments on primates with this kind of thing. like one experiment they did with baboons and different sounds of snakes and other predators. one group had been exposed to snakes and the sounds of other predators, and when a tape recording was played of those sounds, the whole group got into a panic and huddled together for protection. the next group, which were from the same family, but had been seperated from the original group, were never exposed to these sounds until the experiment. the recording was played, and the baboons showed no reaction what so ever. same family of primates,(nature), different environment,(nurture),different reaction. and this of course applies to us, because were primates.
