Rep Power: 27 | | | Need a little advice about set up I have changed my mind about getting rid of the Spider and have this message in the For Sale area. I am reposting the message here to see if anyone has attempted something like this or if anyone has any advice to make this run better. Quote:
Changed my mind about selling the setup. The Spider III does clean real good; we are talking Fender/Roland Clean. So clean it hurts so I have decided to keep the amp and thought about how I would like to set up the entire rig. So I figure both amps would be stacked on stage with the Marshall cab on the bottom, then the custom 2X12 then the Line6 head and finally the 5150 on top because its the biggest heat source. The setup will start out of the guitar going to the talkbox, then to a DOD A/B switch which will split to either amp. The floor effects are currently mounted in a SKB pedal board and will only go to the 5150. I will have the Spider set up with 4 banks of clean. Channel One of Spider III 150HD A = Clean with Reverb B = Clean with Chorus C = Slight Distortion with Tremolo (AKA CCR) D = Marshall JTM 45 Combo / Blues type distortion with slight delay or reverb for leads 5150 Head A = Rhy Distortion Pre Amp on 4 - 6 B = Distortion Lead Pre Amp on 5 - 8 Can't wait till practice on Saturday, I'm heading out early to set this all up. I am really excited about this setup it should sound good. |

Rep Power: 29 | | | Isn't the 5150 head physically bigger than the Line6 head? I'd worry about vibration making the 5150 head fall off the top of the stack. Maybe set the Line6 head on the side, on some kind of box to raise it up. If I'm wrong then nevermind.
Also, are you considering the outs to the PA, or at practice are you not really concerned with that? I'd say the volume levels between the 5150 and the Line6 are gonna be your biggest issue, you'll have to turn down the 5150 quite a bit to match levels.
Other than those concerns, looks like a good setup. |

Rep Power: 50 | | | Looks like alot of work to set up. I would get a processor and roll. But that's my opinion. I am lazy...lol. I used to use pedals, multiple amps so on and so forth. Then I bought my Digitech 2120, a 200 watt power amp, and a BBE running stereo into my Marshall 4X12 and it will rock your freaking socks off. But that being said, I am sure your setup will sound good. The levels will probably be your main concern like Lerxstcat mentioned. |

Its just a idea about putting the 5150 on top. Will not know for sure until Saturday. I do not think it will be so loud that it will fall off, everything is mic'd. Neither amp has line outs. Which I was really surprised about the Spider not having a line out. There is always the Pod XtLive option but I want to try it this way right now. We are together over 8 hours on Saturday and I will be going over early to set everything up. What would be real cool is having both 4X12's running; one by each head.

I have the ability to have a easy set up also with the Pod XtLive but I wanted to try this without the Pod which this is a really nice set up but the 5150 does not clean up as nice as I would like it. Its clean but not a sparkling clean like a Fender or Roland combo. Fender actually has the market on clean IMO.

I will actually leave this entire setup there once its set up. Right now this is just a idea; hopefully one that will work.
